Do you agree with Todd Tyson?
“I believe you can do oxygen for $140 and yes, I would take a contract for that amount,” he said. “If we could get CMS to relax the requirement for a CMN and require a written order, it would greatly reduce the administrative burden, and if we could reduce our marketing, [promotion] and advertising, you could definitely do it for that.”

GPS and HME
At a recent meeting several GAMES members mentioned they are now using GPS in their delivery vehicles. Many other members expressed interest in gettting a system. The challenge is that there are many types of systems available with different features. GAMES members can use this area to discuss and compare features & benefits, advantages & disadvantages.

Oxygen Cap and Transfer of Ownership
The following email prompted this discussion:
Dear David Petsch,
My name is Bridget Nguyen and I work at Homecare Medical Products, Inc. in Warner Robins. I am seeking your advice today concerning the transfer of HME companies with oxygen equipment for a patient. The scenario: the patient has had O2 from another organization for a few years. The company is closing down and told the patient to find another company. After speaking to the patient I found out that he has an E tank and a few M6 tanks with a backpack and conserver. My dilemma: Medicare is only going to pay me 10 months of rental for the O2 and I would have to provide tanks and accessories for free plus leave them out there at the end of the rental. Would you personally take this deal? Is there any way of getting around the tank issue? Another problem is that the patient will be moving in a few months to an area that is approximately 35 miles from the store. Factoring in gas and only 10 months of payment we are having a hard time deciding what we want to do. I am also under the assumption that the tanks we will leave out there are going to be his; however, we will get $77 a month for those to be refilled. Is this correct? Any information you could provide would be of great help.
Thank You,
Bridget Nguyen
